you've got a great sense of depth going here... this would look even better if you brought the haze back a little, and did another distant layer.

Just a suggestion. :)

ahh, you have no idea how often i looked at your pic, whenever i was lost for details or mostly colours... ^^;
and even though it turned out different from what i wanted (see below ^^) it is still close to yours, so its only natural and a matter of fairness to let you know! :)

yeah, the learning will probably never stop, but it is really helpful to see that even you guys don't get things always the way you want to! :D

thanks a lot for the watch dude! i hope i won't disappoint you... ;)

I like the introduction of the details here. They don't disrupt the composition, but give a nice feeling of scale and activity to this dock :)

wow.... thanks! :blushes:

really means a lot to get your professional opinion! :)

even though a lot happened here during the process (i'm still not able to get the stuff in my head out the way i want to :cries:) i tried to give it a feeling of depth using three different general layers, foreground, middle with ship and column, and background with the station and the outer space...

Your layered approach is a good way to break things down.

I hate to tell you this, but not getting stuff in your head out the way you want to is the story of my life :D!

I don't know if it's really possible - for anyone! But I reached a point where I would look at something and think "That's not what I wanted it to be - but I don't totally hate it!" :D

Usually things wind up somewhere in the middle. In a way, it's the feeling that "next time" or "soon" it will really hit the target exactly - that's what keeps me moving forward. And of course, sometimes a picture takes a surprising turn and winds up very different than you wanted, but still good in its own way :)

:D

i'm really glad to see that this seems to be a common problem! ^^

i totally agree, i'm not really unhappy with what i do, and i certainly notice that i learn... but still, there is so much room for improvement... and at least it is cool to see something develop in the making, the process is interesting in itself...

we have a saying here in germany, translated it is like "the way there is the goal"... i guess this kinda sums it up.. ;)

That is kind of like another saying I've heard: "you must enjoy the journey" :)

Well - it's a long journey - one never knows - no reason why it can't happen, eh?
